Concord Origin Story: Felicia Chu
by Kate Huber

In the world of comic books, origin stories inform the reader of the identity and motivations of heroes and villains (thankfully, we only have the former here). Like Spider-Man or Captain American, your origin story is important as it defines who you are today. Learn about the experiences, people, and influences that shaped Concord's Felicia Chu by reading below!

Where did you grow up?

Everett, Washington. It's north of Seattle.

What is your favorite family tradition?

I don't make it out to visit my parents and sister as often as I'd like to, but when I do, we usually spend a day or two making several of our favorite foods.

Who has had the greatest influence on your life?

My sister is a year and a half older than me. Growing up, I always looked up to her.

What is an experience that has shaped who you are today?

Going to graduate school helped me become more independent. It was my first time living on my own, and I think I had a lot of personal growth and development during that time.

How did you end up in your current career?

I graduated with a Ph.D. in developmental psychology and a minor in statistical methods a few years ago. What I enjoyed the most was analyzing the data and using it to tell a story. After graduation, I worked as a clinical data analyst for a few years before joining Evolytics. I think what has made me successful is my ability to learn new tools and skills quickly.

What is your favorite travel destination?

I've always liked returning to the Pacific Northwest (preferably not in the winter, as it gets cold and rainy). The scenery there is gorgeous, and there's so much to see. I've never been to Europe, but it's at the top of my list of places to visit!

What is your favorite food?

I like to joke that I've got a small part of my brain thinking about food at all times, but it's actually true. I can't choose just one favorite, but I love desserts.

What is your favorite hobby?

I love to bake, mostly breads and desserts. I've been working on improving my cake and cookie decorating skills.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Defending my dissertation was one of my biggest accomplishments. It was a culmination of years of research and hard work.

What advice would you give your younger self?

It's okay to fail. Continue to believe in yourself and learn from your mistakes.
